Which products I'm hoarding as we hand off our botanical business, and why recreating yourself in midlife is scary AF

Crow in the Water of Leith, Edinburgh. Don’t you love it when a photo looks kind of like a painting?

July 6, July 7, July 8….

Every day I subtract the current date from 28 to get to the number of days I have left until the botanical business I founded twenty years ago is turned over to its new owner. I’ve had some distance from the business the past few years. I have focused on books while my business partner and husband Andrew steered the shops. I honestly didn’t realize, at this point, I’d feel so obsessive.

Walking myself through the experience of selling a business we’ve owned for twenty years has opened a window into why people do (and don’t) give themselves permission to shake things up in midlife. Hint: You have to get over yourself… your past self, that is. And that’s a pretty big head trip. But there’s more to it than that….

I’m gonna dish about all this plus share my must-haves from my shop, Herbiary— you know, the things I’m hoarding while I still have my “employee” discount. After twenty years in this biz, I have a fairly refined kit of essentials. If you’re into holistic wellness and plant-based products, consider this a cheat sheet.

I’m thrilled to report that this is a rich and diverse offering for our first week behind the paywall.

Whaaaattt???? you might be thinking. I want all that goodness. What is this paywall of which you speak?

If you missed last week’s email, there’s news: I’m moving most content behind the paywall. You will need to be a contributing subscriber (right now, only $3/month!) to access most of my writing. Read last week’s post for the why of it.

To encourage you to follow along on Something True’s next adventure, I’m offering a 50% discount on subscriptions in the month of July…. which means you can read on for just $3/month!

(A fairly incredible note: I’ve done the math and if everyone reading this chooses to subscribe at just $3/month or $30/year, I can treat writing for you as a job instead of a hobby. I’ve been experimenting with that attitude shift this week and I can guarantee it is going to garner some remarkable results!

Curious? Invest $3, subscribe for one month, and check it out!)

Subscribe to read on!
