Seasonal Reflections | OCTOBER

As the leaves begin to change, I always think about letting go... and every year it feels a little different even though I begin with the same prompt.

“There are still so many trees,” she said, swirling her rosé in its glass as she gazed through the sliding glass doors.

“I know,” I replied. “There are moments when it seems that nothing has changed.”

But— even if you didn’t have Hurricane Helene and the twisters it spawned roaring through your community— this is still the season of change. The time of reaping what we have sown in the year that’s passing and preparing what we want to seed for the year to come.

This is the season that teaches us about letting go, beautifully and gracefully and with fiery brilliance. If we observe the natural world closely, we realize nothing is wasted: the leaves that fall to the forest floor first protect the tree’s roots through the cold winter then become the mulch that provides nutrients for spring’s seedlings. Change is part of the season’s cycle.

What do you need to let go of this season?

How will it become compost that nourishes your future?

Letting go requires a certain amount of bravery. It’s hard to release a house you have loved, a relationship that used to work, a life that used to fit.

These moments require discernment: the tree offers up its leaves, but it keeps its branches and bark. It remains solid in its roots.

What outer layers do you need to shed in order to support your core?

Paid community members— scroll down for a little bit more to think on this season.

Sending so much love as I navigate the seismic changes in my own life.
