I am firmly in the trench-building (hopeful) camp…but do find that I sometimes need to retreat for a moment to rest and take care of my nervous system. A friend shared a great analogy; like when you are singing in a choir, and you have a long, sustained note - you take turns/stagger taking a breath, so the sound does not falter, even though everyone is able to catch their breath… Thank you for sharing this! Really rings true for me.
The hope spectrum - to quote John Denver: Some days are diamonds; some days are stone.
I love me a little JD. The original one. RIP.
I am not a 'hope' person .. I am total faith .. in the trenches sure but more planting seeds and trees knowing all the good to come
Beautiful.😘

“The old world is dying, and the new world struggles to be born: now is the time of monsters.”
― Antonio Gramsci This is the story of collapse... mixed with so many stories of hope bending the curve!! 😭😭😭
Thank you for sharing!
Always both, right?
💯 totally, and perhaps to remind her that all the polarities exists simultaneously
