Oh, natural skin care! I want to love you. But schmearing you on my face makes me feel like Goldilocks:
This one is too greasy, that one too heavy, and this other one feels dreamy…. but it looks like baby puke.
As the owner of Herbiary, I have sampled a lifetime’s worth of all natural facial oils and organic night creams. So I was thrilled to crack open True Botanical’s Chebula Active Serum and realize it was just right. After a sigh of relief, I twisted the cap off the Chebula Extreme Cream and rubbed a little between my fingers: light and absorbent. And a pretty pinky peach color! More sighing.
My final product purchase was the Renew Repair Nightly which smells so beautifully of jasmine that I have to resist reaching for it in the morning, too. These products tantalize all the senses…. and, after using them for three months, I can honestly say they work! **
They also cost a small fortune so let me tell you how to get the most out of your natural skincare:
apply to DAMP skin.
That’s it. It’s that easy. And your product will last a super long time.
Spritz your face with plain water or rose hydrosol (a.k.a. rose water) and you’ll suddenly need a whole lot less product. That’s because natural skin care is meant to lock moisture against your skin, not moisturize your skin! So you add the moisture first instead of using gobs of serum or cream.
Voila! Beautiful skin and a yummy experience to get you there.
Note: If you haven’t been using natural products, you might get a pimple or two as your skin adjusts. Sometimes this happens to me just switching products. I might get a light break out (a pimple here or there) for a week or two and then it stops.
Hope you enjoy having this sensual moment bookend your day as much as I do.
xx Maia

Thanks Maia - I always love to see and hear what others love. So true what you say about how hard it can be to find the one that is just right.
I hope it's ok to share a couple of my favs (no affiliation at all). I discovered Little Seed Farm's Elasticity Serum at our semi-local apothecary a couple of years ago. It has been going into every girlfriend gift bag I have put together. And my favorite face cream by far is still Rosemary Gladstar's DIY recipe for her Calendula Face Cream - I modify it with rosewater and rose essential oil. When I don't have time to make a new batch, Indian Meadow Herbal's Love your Face Cream is a good stand-in. Both recipes are on the oilier side, which I need and love. I also love Galen's Way Riot of Roses, which is less oily and much lighter.
For nighttime I have been making Felicia Cocotzin Ruiz's hydrating face oil ever since her book was published.
I'm laughing right now... we use the exact same skincare products! I've loved True Botanicals for a few years, and these three are my winter go-to's. :-)
